Virat Kohli's retirement from Test cricket has drawn reactions from around the world. From stars from different sports to celebrities, many have shared their thoughts and congratulatory messages for the legendary Indian player. Virat announced his retirement from the Test format through an Instagram post on May 12. The 36-year-old played 123 matches, scoring 9240 runs, including 30 hundreds and 31 fifties.

Reacting to Virat's retirement, veteran Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor shared a heartfelt message for the player. He shared the experience of meeting Virat on the sets of Dil Dhadakne Do with Anushka Sharma. The actor further stated the impact Virat had on him during the meet. He mentioned Virat's down-to-earth nature that had a lasting impression on him.

Here's what Anil Kapoor said, "We met eleven years ago on a cruise when Anushka was shooting Dil Dhadakne Do. I still remember how warm, humble, and down-to-earth you were – it left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I've been admiring you from afar – your discipline, passion, and the sheer joy and pride you've given us through your incredible achievements on the field. Though we haven't met again since, I've always been cheering for you. Congratulations on everything you've accomplished. You may have retired from Test cricket, but you'll never retire from the hearts of 1.4 billion Indians – and millions more around the world. Thank you, Virat."

What's next for Virat Kohli?

Virat Kohli has always been a prominent figure in Indian as well as world cricket. The player has now retired from two of the largely played formats of the game, T20Is and Tests. This means that he would only play the ODI format in the future and would likely participate in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.

According to the current schedule, Virat would be seen in the Indian jersey in October 2025. However, the player would continue to play the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for RCB. With Rohit Sharma also retiring from Test cricket, he too would be seen playing only the ODI format.
