India's former cricketer Mohammad Kaif opened up on Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling and how the English batters might tackle him ahead of the semi-finals in Mumbai. Both teams will take on each other on March 5 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. While the game is going to be challenging, India might the face the threat of Varun being exposed to the batters.

Kaif spoke in details about how Varun has been losing momentum whenever he gets hit for a boundary or a six. Instead of sticking to a particular delivery line that would help him get wickets, he tends to lose concentration and ends up bowling different deliveries.

“Many batters are now coming prepared, knowing exactly how to plan against him (Varun). That is where a slight problem can arise. I have noticed that when he gets hit for runs, he sometimes shows a bit of panic. You can see it in the way he reacts. Instead of sticking to his natural wicket-to-wicket length, he starts bowling at the pads," said Mohammad Kaif on his YouTube channel.

How has Varun Chakaravarthy performed in T20 World Cup 2026?

India's mystery spinner has bowled in seven games and has taken 12 wickets so far. While the tournament has not been that great for him in terms of leaking runs, he has taken wickets and given the kind of start India had always needed, especially in the powerplays. He was quite expensive in some games but he has consistently taken wickets,

With the smei-finals coming up, the matches will be extremely important and Varun will be the key as well. England have quite a talented batters and if India want to win, they'll have to keep Bumrah and Varun ready for the face off. The match is on March 5 in Mumbai. It will start at 7 PM IST.
