Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been in news from the past few days and that's because of his exclusion from the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Despite being bought by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR 9.20 crores in the mini auction, the cricketer was omitted from the league as per BCCI's instructions.
While the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) opposed the decision and made formal complaints against India, Mustafizur Rahman is 'completely chilled' about the events that has happened recently. Rangapur Tigers' assistant coach Mohammad Ashraful mentioned during an interview that Rahman is not concerned about the off-field controversies and is focused on playing cricket.
"He (Mustafizur) is completely chill. He is not worried at all about all the off-field talk - whether it's BCB, India, BPL or ICC. Right now he is focused on playing for Rangpur Riders and after this whatever assignment comes next, he will focus on that. He is a person of a different level," said Ashraful as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"If you talk about Mustafizur in the first two matches his performances were a bit below par but especially the way we won the last match against Dhaka was an outstanding victory. And the way Mustafizur bowled those last two overs - I think he is a world champion for this format, that's how important he is," he added.
After the IPL 2026 snub, Mustafizur Rahman now has registered for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 edition. While many franchises have shown interest in him as per reports, the auction is a few months away. After being sidelined from the IPL, Rahman will now play in the PSL.
This step has gained quite a lot of attention on social media with people praising the pacer. He has proved that cricket is important to him and not a specific tournament. An experienced player like him will be a huge asset to the PSL franchises.
