In Adelaide, the Indian cricket team sharpened their skills in an optional training session ahead of the second ODI against Australia. While Virat Kohli, captain Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer skipped the nets, Rohit Sharma made the most of his time, spending 15 purposeful minutes at the crease.

No Kohli and Gill a the practice

Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer chose to sit out the session, embracing a strategic pause for rest and recovery before the high-stakes clash. With the session being optional, these key players wisely prioritized their energy.

Rohit batted for 15 minutes

Rohit Sharma's practice was brief but concentrated. He batted for about 15 minutes, dedicating his time to perfecting his timing.

This session was crucial for Rohit to ensure his sharpness in handling different deliveries, emphasizing precision rather than extended net time. Rohit would be hoping to get going in the second ODI after failing in Perth.

The focus was on bowlers

The training spotlight was on the bowling department, with the emphasis laid on Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Their preparations included fine-tuning seam positions, lengths, and spot bowling accuracy. Morne Morkel, the team's bowling coach, took a proactive role in this regard.

He held an extended discussion with Siraj about seam positioning and tactical placements, highlighting the technical nuances critical for exploiting Australian batting conditions.

Morkel's involvement was especially significant in establishing markers on the field for spot bowling. They focused on how the bowlers can persistently attack certain areas and maintain pressure through disciplined bowling.

Further, India's batsmen KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel opted for separate net sessions, allowing them tailored practice time. Rahul, in particular, balanced his batting drills with wicket-keeping practices during the session.
