India's head coach Sitanshu Kotak opened about the Indian team's performance and how concerned is the management regarding the upcoming matches. India's poor performance in the last game against South Africa led to a defeat, followed by a slim chance of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Despite facing criticism regarding the playing XI, the team management is not looking forward to changing the combinations. Kotak revealed that they aren;t much concerned about anyone's form since they are the best players and have been performing well in the bilaterals. He acknowledged the fact that the last game was the worst match in two years but the players know how to bounce back,
“The batting was clicking in bilateral. This World Cup's last game was a concern. I am not looking at individuals. The last game was the worst game we played in the last two years. Our openers haven’t clicked. It's fine, I wouldn't stress too much about it. Not really that concerned.” said Sitanshu Kotak during the press conference.
“We have only lost one game; it was a good game for them, and we didn't bat well. Abhishek looked good in the last game; overthinking about one individual doesn't make sense. It puts too much pressure on them. Our job is to keep him in a good frame of mind.” he added.
India's next match is on February 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai against Zimbabwe which is an important clash. They have to win the match to get back into the qualification scenario.
They are way behind in the NRR and winning against Zimbabwe by a huge margin will help them get a better NRR. After Zimbabwe, India will play against West Indies on March 1. All of their upcoming matches are crucial and in order to stay in the campaign, they'll have to win with a good NRR. It will be interesting to see how the team will manage against Zimbabwe and West Indies.
