The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 might come to a standstill as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked players to leave Rawalpindi. It comes after India neutralised the Pakistani air defence system and launched drone attacks across multiple Pakistani cities.
The Indian armed forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7 and destroyed terror camps across nine different locations in Pakistan. It was initiated after Pakistan-backed terrorists killed Indian citizens in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22.
As tensions continue to escalate, PCB have asked players to leave Rawalpindi. According to the PSL 2025 schedule, Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi were gearing up to face each other at the Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi.
With the ongoing situation in Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is exploring opportunities to shift remaining PSL 2025 matches outside of the country. As per reports, the Pindi Stadium in Rawalpindi has been attacked by the Indian drone and the today's match has been postponed.
According to Cricbuzz, a PCB spokesperson said, "the Board is reviewing the situation and will be rescheduling some of the PSL 2025 matches to Dubai or Doha. Further updates will be provided as matters are finalised."
Furthermore, there have been reports of England players willing to quit the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 midway following the current situation. English channel 'The Telegraph' reported that players and support staff are willing to return to England.
According to reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Professional Cricketers' Association held an emergency call on Wednesday morning to discuss the situation. There are seven England cricketers, including James Vince, David Willey, Luke Wood, Sam Billings, Chris Jordan and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who are part of the PSL. Additionally, Ravi Bopara and Alexendra Hartley are part of the support staff.
