India's star batter, Rinku Singh, has joined the team ahead of their clash against West Indies on March 1 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He went to his home after his father passed away a few days back. After completing the rituals, he has rejoined the team, showcasing courage and strength.

His father was battling stage 4 liver cancer and had been hospitalised. Since the past one year, things have been quite sensitive around his health. Despite all odds, Rinku was actively involved in all the series that were happening, international and domestic. He was in the playing XI in the T20 World Cup 2026 when he had to go back to see his father after the South Africa match.

His health conditions had deteriorated and was put on ventilator support. However, Rinku did comeback before Zimbabwe match but didn't get a place in the playing XI. Now, he is back after completing all the rituals after his father, Mr. Khanchandra Singh, passed away. Whether or not he'll be there in the playing XI is not confirmed yet. However, joining the team after such a huge crisis is something the entire country is proud of.

Should India make any changes in playing XI?

The Indian team brought in Sanju Samson in the previous game against Zimbabwe where he scored 26 runs. Despite giving a solid start to the innings, he fell midway. However, after his dismissal, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan handled the innings well. The main reason behind Samson's inclusion was to break the left-handed batters' domination in the top order.

Now, the team looks quite balanced with Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel in the middle order. But, India's bowling has become a huge concern, especially in the middle overs. Wickets haven't come on time and the bowlers have leaked a lot of runs as well. With a lineup like West Indies, who have batters down the order, only early wickets can help.

If India fail to dismiss the batters on time, they might end up either scoring a lot of runs in the first innings or chasing the given target. Meanwhile, the toss will be an important factor in today's game.
