The franchise-based T20 tournament run by Cricket South Africa (SA20) is in its first season, and fans are enjoying the games taking place on a daily place with more than half of the games played.

However, after non-stop cricketing action for the past 15 days, the SA20 2023 league took a week-long break. While many knew the reason behind it, many thought either the league got postponed or canceled just like it happened to some of the leagues in the past.

However, the league is only on a break to accommodate South Africa vs England ODI series. The hosts need to win the series against the English side if they want to make sure of automatic qualification for this year's ODI World Cup.

The Proteas are currently in 11th place in the standings after forfeiting three ODIs against Australia this month to make room for SA20.

As for the SA20, the league will resume from February 2 onwards, with the match between Durban Super Giants (DSG) and MI Cape Town (MICT). Apart from skipper Temba Bavuma, all 15 players in the South Africa squad are part of the SA20 league.
