In one of the most explosive performances of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mumbai’s batter Sarfaraz Khan produced a stunning display of power hitting to record the fastest half-century in the history of the Indian domestic one-day competition. Khan reached fifty in just 15 deliveries, smashing experienced bowler Abhishek Sharma for 30 runs in a single over, showcasing an extraordinary blend of timing and brute force.

Sarfaraz walked in at No. 3 in Mumbai’s chase against Punjab after the dismissal of his brother, Musheer Khan, with the score around 57 for 1. From the moment he took guard, he made it clear he wasn’t there to settle in; instead, he attacked from the start, clearing the rope at regular intervals and punishing every width offered.

The defining moment came when Abhishek Sharma, leading Punjab’s attack, was taken to the cleaners in his over. Sarfaraz hits 6,4,6,4,6,4 in the over of Abhishek Sharma as the India opener concedes 30 runs.

Punjab won by 1 run against Mumbai in Vijay Hazare Trophy

In a thilling game in the last round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, Punjab won the match by just one run after scoring 216 runs in the first innings against Mumbai. Despite having some of the best players in the team, Mumbai couldn't chase down a small target in the final round. Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century, while Sarfaraz Khan did too.

For Punjab, Gurnoor Brar and Mayank Markande took four wickets each while Krish Bhagat and Harnoor Singh took one wicket each. Well, this defeat didn't matter to Mumbai as they have qualified for the Quarter-finals along with Punjab who finished on top of the points table. Both teams played some quality cricket throughout the tournament and hence, qualified for the knockouts.
