Team India pulled off one of their most dramatic Test wins in recent history as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Gus Atkinson to hand the Men in Blue a 6-run win over England in the 5th and final Test at The Oval, drawing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2–2.

England began Day 5 needing 35 runs with four wickets in hand, chasing a record 374 runs to win. With Harry Brook’s stunning 111 on Day 4 and Joe Root’s calm century, the hosts were favourites to wrap up the series 3–1. However, Siraj had some different plans.

He was the standout performer in the final session. He dismissed Jamie Smith, who edged to second slip, and then Jamie Overton, trapped LBW. England’s collapse was underway, and the pressure shifted rapidly. From a comfortable 301/4, they slipped to 367/9.

Adding to the tension was the injured Chris Woakes, who walked in with one hand in a sling, trying to support Gus Atkinson at the other end. Atkinson bravely took the chase forward with a couple of hits, one of them even lofting a six, bringing England closer with every run. But the moment belonged to Siraj.

With England just 7 runs away from a historic win, Siraj bowled a searing delivery that knocked over Atkinson’s off stump. The Indian players erupted in celebration, and Siraj did his iconic “SIU” celebration, roaring in triumph as The Oval crowd stood stunned. It was one of the finest final-day comebacks in Test cricket.

Siraj finished with five-wicket haul in the innings, and was rightly hailed as the match-winner. He had already been pivotal in the first innings with a four-wicket burst that kept India in the contest. His fiery pace, relentless energy, and precise lengths were lauded by former cricketers and fans alike.

This victory means India avoid a series loss and draw the series 2–2, after trailing 1-2 earlier. For England, it was heartbreak. From being in a commanding position to falling just short, it was a tale of what might have been. Brook and Root’s centuries now feel distant, as Siraj's final act stole the spotlight. In a series filled with memorable moments, this Oval Test will be remembered for the grit, pressure, and one sensational fast bowler who refused to give up.
