Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana has officially confirmed that her much-anticipated wedding with music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal has been called off, putting an end to weeks of swirling speculation. Mandhana addressed the matter directly through an Instagram story, emphasising her wish for privacy as both families cope with this turn of events. She also reaffirmed her steadfast dedication to her cricketing career and representing India on the international stage.
In her statement, Mandhana said, “Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person, and I would like to keep it that way, but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off.” She further appealed to fans and the media to respect the privacy of both families during this difficult phase, requesting space and understanding as they move forward at their own pace.

The original wedding was scheduled to take place on November 23, 2025, in Sangli, Maharashtra. However, on the morning of the wedding day, the event was postponed indefinitely due to sudden health emergencies in both families.
Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered severe chest pain and was hospitalised with elevated cardiac enzymes requiring close medical observation.
Around the same time, Palash Mucchal also required hospitalisation. The families mutually decided that focusing on health and recovery was paramount, leading to the cancellation of the ceremony.

Although there were no statements from Smriti around this, there were multiple reports and rumours around Palash getting caught by Smriti Madhana’s father while cheating her. Many suggested that this was the principal reason for Smriti calling off the wedding.
This announcement brings clarity after a period of intense public and media scrutiny. Mandhana’s honesty and request for privacy highlight the vulnerability behind public figures’ personal lives and underscore the importance of compassion during challenging moments.
Despite the broken engagement, Mandhana’s focus remains firmly on her cricketing career. She shared, “I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me, that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be.”
