South Africa have announced their 15-member Test squad for the upcoming two-match series against India, set to begin on November 14, 2025. The series will start at Eden Gardens in Kolkata and conclude with the second Test at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati, hosting its maiden Test match. The South African squad marks the return of captain Temba Bavuma, who had missed the recent tour of Pakistan due to a left calf strain but is now fully recovered and ready to lead the team in India.
Tenba Bavuma will helm a squad largely unchanged from the one that battled Pakistan to a 1-1 draw, according to Head Coach Shukri Conrad. Conrad highlighted the resilience and character shown by the bulk of the squad in Pakistan and expects the same grit will be necessary to compete in challenging Indian conditions. The Proteas are aiming to stay competitive on what has always been a tough subcontinental tour.
The squad notably features three frontline spinners—Keshav Maharaj, Simon Harmer, and Senuran Muthusamy.
Muthusamy was recently named player of the series against Pakistan, reinforcing South Africa's spin strength. Pace spearheads Kagiso Rabada, along with all-rounders Corbin Bosch, Marco Jansen, and Wiaan Mulder, provide the seam threat.
The batting unit is bolstered by experienced names such as Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, and Kyle Verreynne, alongside exciting young talents like Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, and Tony de Zorzi. Zubayr Hamza returns to add solidity to the line-up.
