Indian cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, accompanied by his wife Devisha Shetty, visited the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala ahead of India’s upcoming T20I series against New Zealand.
The visit took place as the Indian team continues its preparations for the home series, which is expected to be an important checkpoint in the ongoing international season. Visuals of the couple offering prayers at the temple surfaced online, quickly drawing attention from fans and followers.
Suryakumar Yadav has been a key figure in India’s white-ball setup over the past few years, particularly in the T20 format, where he has established himself as one of the most impactful batters in world cricket. He is currently the skipper of the Indian team.
India's white-ball campaign has been going great with the players performing in almost all the games. Recently, they won the ODI and T20I series against South Africa and will be eyeing for another victory against New Zealand.
The ODI series against New Zealand is expected to draw significant attention, with both sides looking to assess form and consistency ahead of future international commitments. For India, the series provides an opportunity to fine-tune strategies and manage player workloads in a packed calendar.
Suryakumar’s presence within the squad adds experience and versatility, even as the team continues to evaluate its options across formats. But, the player has failed to perform in the last few years. After becoming the skipper of the team, his performance has dropped drastically as he is scoring at an average of just 13.
Ahead of the World Cup 2026, the New Zealand series will be a great time for SKY to practice well and try to focus on performing in the T20Is. The fans will be eager to watch him bat in the upcoming series.
Cricket fans in India can watch the India vs New Zealand 1st ODI match on January 11 online on JioHotstar, via OTTplay Premium.
