The 2nd T20I game between India and New Zealand in Lucknow saw the Men in Blue gain victory in the must-win clash. Suryakumar Yadav scored 26 runs off of 31 balls and helped India reach the below-par target. However, on the road to victory, SKY had a run-out encounter with teammate Washington Sundar, which saw the latter get dismissed.

In the clash, Suryakumar and Hardik Pandya added 31 runs for the fifth wicket to help India register the win, however, before stitching this partnership SKY added 20 runs (23 balls) with Washington Sundar.

The two were batting well before Sundar got run out after a horrible mix-up with Suryakumar. SKY had hit the ball and ran, but Sundar did not want to take it. He in fact told SKY not to run, but, Surya was already at the other end of the crease.

When Suryakumar won the Player of the Match award, he said that he wanted a single which was impossible. "It was my mistake, it was definitely not a run, I didn’t see where the ball was going," Suryakumar said.

Speaking of his innings, Suryakumar said, "A different version of SKY today. Adapting to the situation was very important when I went to bat. After losing Washy, it was important for someone to take the game till the end."

The third T20I will be played in Ahmedabad on February 1.
