India's captain Suryakumar Yadav has given a befitting answer to Mitchell Santner's 'sliencing the crowd' remark ahead of the encounter against New Zealand on March 8 in Ahmedabad. When asked about New Zealand's plans regarding the finals, Santner said that they would love to silence the crowd, much like other captains.
Speaking to the media at the press conference, SKY stated that everybody says the same things and gave a cheeky smile. India have been playing well in the tournament and the skipper spoke about the team atmosphere and how everyone is holding up as well.
"Everybody is saying the same line. They should try something new. It's a special feeling. And everyone is very excited. We have a very good environment in the group. We are looking forward to the big final," Suryakumar Yadav told reporters.
India and New Zealand will meet in an ICC event final once again within a span of a year. The last time they played, the Men in Blue lifted the trophy.
Skipper also addressed the criticism going on around Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling and how he has been leaking runs in the matches. Despite taking wickets, the batters have gone after the mystery spinner in the World Cup. In pressure situations, he is no longer the person who gets wickets for India, However, skipper defended the bowler and stated that the management is not worried about his performance.
"There is nothing to worry about. We won the match. It’s a team sport, and we focus on collective performances. We don’t think about individual performances when we win or lose. There are 11 players in the team. Everybody can’t have their best days together. One or two of them will have tough days. We look to cover for them on those days. But, we are not worried about him at all. He is the World No. 1 bowler. He knows what to do when, how to bowl against which opposition. He knows how to step forward and win matches for us. I am sure he will do it," he added.
