Suryakumar Yadav reveals star batter's inclusion in playing XI ahead of clash against ZIM in T20 World Cup 2026

India's star batter Sanju Samson is back in the team and now, will open the innings alongside Abhishek Sharma in the crucial encounter against Zimbabwe in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Samson has come in for Rinku Singh and the roar around Chepauk Stadium, Chennai, was outstanding. The fans were ecstatic to hear about Samson's inclusion in the team.

This is an important match for India and bringing in Samson into the attack was a tactical change that they made. The opening partnership need to go well for the team that would help them put some runs on the board. 

"Happy with the decision, were looking to bat first. Boys are ready. Mood in the camp is relaxed. The way he spoke in the huddle (Hardik), experienced player, he knows what he brings to the table. Team required that and I think we'll have a good day tonight. Even if you win or lose, you learn something out of it. Just forget what happened in the last game. Play the same way as you've been playing last whole year. Enjoy the game and forget everything. Be fearless. Two changes: Axar comes in for Washington, Samson comes in for Rinku. Sanju will keep," said Suryakumar Yadav at the toss. 

Axar Patel included in playing XI against Zimbabwe

India's star all-rounder Axar Patel was brought back in the playing XI after leaving him out in the matches against Netherlands and South Africa. He is one of the best in the business and will be quite helpful in Chennai. Moreover, as a batter he has helped India a lot in the previous matches and the same can be expected from him in the upcoming matches. 

Meanwhile, India will have to win the game and now that West Indies lost against South Africa, the NRR thing is not an issue anymore. Now, a victory against both Zimbabwe and West Indies will help India qualify for semi-finals.
