The ICC has announced the T20 World Cup 2026 schedule, venues, groups, and format details. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming tournament.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the schedule, venues, and the groups for the upcoming T20 Men's World Cup 2026, hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The ceremony was held live on Star Sports and JioHotstar and was hosted by cricket presenter Jatin Sapru. There were many guests present in the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Angelo Mathews.
Sanjog Gupta, CEO of the International Cricket Council, spoke about how the legendary players lik MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli, will not be present in the T20 World Cup 2026 and the cricket fans would miss watching them play live.
Later, ICC chairman Jay Shah has announced 8 venues for the mega ICC tournament: Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Kandy, Colombo. Jay Shah also announced that Rohit Sharma is the brand ambassador of the T20 World Cup 2026. India's former skipper Rohit Sharma was quite ecstatic on the occasion and said, “I don't care about the opposition, I just want India to be there and get the job done.”

Teams: 20 nations (10 automatic qualifiers + 10 via global qualifiers)
Format: Group stage - Super 8s - Semi-finals - Final
Group A - India, Pakistan, USA, Netherlands, Namibia
Group B- Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, Oman
Group C - England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, Italy
Group D - New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, UAE
The T20 World Cup 2026 will start on February 7 and the first match is between Pakistan and the Netherlands in Colombo. Since there are 20 teams playing, almost around three matches will be held in a single day. Interestingly, the India vs Pakistan match will also be held in Colombo on February 15.
