IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) has been kicked out of the IPL 2025 playoffs race after a 100-run defeat against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 1. The team failed miserably to contain MI in every department despite playing at their home ground at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR's exit from IPL 2025 has raised serious questions about the decisions made during the auction, especially the one of not backing Jos Buttler. Former Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist bashed the franchise for letting go of England's explosive batter.

During the IPL 2025 auctions, Rajasthan Royals garnered fans' attention for not retaining star players like Jos Buttler, Trent Boult, and Yuzvendra Chahal. All these players are currently making significant contributions for their current team in the IPL 2025. RR, on the other hand, has failed badly to gather wins in their account. The team has played 11 matches and managed to win only three of them.

Gilchrist holds RR management accountable for IPL 2025 exit

Former Aussie great Adam Gilchrist has bashed Rajasthan Royals management for committing the mistake of not continuing with Jos Buttler. While speaking to Cricbuzz, Gilchrist said, "We heard Mike Hussey admit that they (CSK) got it wrong at the auction, and they are out. Someone needs to be accountable for what happened with the decision on Jos Buttler. RR have got it wrong, and they find themselves eliminated as well. So, there has got to be some accountability. I would have thought certainly, internally, they have got to be asking questions. That was a monumental mistake."

Jos Buttler, who was picked by Gujarat Titans at a price tag of INR 15.75 crore, is having a great season for the franchise. The player has scored 406 runs in nine matches at a great strike rate of 168.46. Apart from batting, Buttler is also making handy contributions in the wicketkeeping department as well. With five league matches still remaining, he is right up there in the contention for the Orange Cap.
