India's former cricketer Aakash Chopra lauded Yashasvi Jaiswal for stellar performance in the last match and for giving the team great starts throughout the series. While Jaiswal couldn't convert most of his centuries, he did play decently in the matches. He took on the bowlers well and understood the opponents well.
The former cricketer, in his YouTube video, mentioned that this might be the last game for Jaiswal in months since he is playing as a replacement for Shubman Gill, and whenever he comes back, the left-handed batter will have to vacate the seat. Gill is the Indian captain in ODIs and Tests and is all ready to play in the upcoming T20I series against South Africa.
"The biggest headline story was Yashasvi Jaiswal. This might be his last match for Team India for a while. I don't see him playing in the next six to eight months. Unfortunate as it might be, but this is the reality, because the guy in whose place he plays is this team's captain," said Aakash Chopra.
After two thrilling first games, the last game looked like a one-sided affair as India won the toss and chose to bowl first. KL Rahul finally broke the curse of losing the tosses in the ODIs. Moreover, South Africa could manage to score just 270 runs in the first innings, thanks to Quinton de Kock’s century. He played a stunning innings filled with boundaries and sixes.
However, 270 runs weren’t enough for the Proteas, as India chased it down in 39.5 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century and Rohit and Virat’s half-centuries helped the hosts win the game as well as the series. For an incredible performance, Jaiswal won the Player of the Match award while Kohli won the Player of the Series award.
