U-19 World Cup 2024: BCCI announces India's squad for tournament in South Africa

The team for the highly anticipated ICC Men's U19 World Cup 2024 has been unveiled by the Junior Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At the World Cup, Uday Saharan, who is currently captaining India at the Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai, will take the helm once more.

The Indian team finds itself in Group A, alongside Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA. With the thrilling game between Ireland and the USA on January 19, the tournament is scheduled to begin in South Africa.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off in South Africa on January 19 with an exciting match between Ireland and the USA. India's campaign will commence on January 20, 2024, facing Bangladesh in Bloemfontein, followed by clashes with Ireland and the USA on January 25 and 28, respectively.

The event will feature a total of 16 teams, divided into four groups. Following the group stage, the top three teams from each group will progress to the Super Six phase, where the top four teams will secure spots in the semi-finals. The final is set for Sunday, February 11, at Willowmoore Park in Benoni, which will also host the two semi-final matches.

This will mark the third occasion that South Africa will host the prestigious event, having done so previously in 1998 and 2020. Notably, defending champions India have claimed the U-19 World Cup title five times — in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022. Australia closely follows with five wins as well.
