Indian cricket has seen many players come and go, but a young 14-year-old batter, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has managed to keep everyone hooked to their seats, even in an international level. The player has scored tons of runs in the last one and a half years and waiting for the day to get his maiden cal-up from the Indian selectors.

Currently, Suryavanshi is playing for India in the U19 Youth ODI series against South Africa Under-19 at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni on Monday, and in the second game, he went on to score the fastest fifth, breaking Rishabh Pant's decade old record. The young batter has made and broke multiple records in recent times, making the country proud on an international platform.

He slammed a half-century in 14 balls, breaking Pant's 18-ball record which was set during the U-19 World Cup 2016 against Nepal in Dhaka.. Suryavanshi was eventually dismissed for 68 from 24 balls, including a boundary and 10 sixes. India comfotably managed to win the contest by eight wickets, thanks to the young batter's stellar performance. He is one of the best rising stars with solid batting style and performance.

When can Vaibhav Suryavanshi debut for India?

The 14-year-old is performing all around the world and the fans are eagering waiting for him to don the Indian jersey. However, as per ICC guidelines, until a player turns 15, he/she will not be able to play cricket for the national side. Hence, Suryavanshi will have to wait for March 2026 to turn 15 and if continues to perform with this intensity, he might get his maiden call-up.

Suryavanshi has been in an incredible form and hence, India need a player like him in the top order who can take off the pressure from the non-striker's end. Meanwhile, the competition is too high and the young batter can start his career from the T20I squad.
