While the semi-final clash against Australia at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023 was a heartbreak for Indian fans, surely it was more the players, who played a good game of cricket but were on the losing end.

Soon after the game, Harmanpreet Kaur, who scored a fine 52 off 34 balls, was seen to have a wave of emotions. From anger, frustration, disappointment, disbelief, anxiety, nervousness, sensibility, and responsibility to even tears, the Indian skipper went through it all.

The Indian skipper experienced a sense of the entire universe collapsing as soon as Alyssa Healy whipped the bails off. Her bat got stuck just inches before the popping crease.

Soon after her dismissal, things just went downhill as the lower-order batters could not take India across the line - a game that was in India's hand.

After the game, Harmanpreet did not stop the flow of emotions, especially after former India captain Anjum Chopra went to meet her. The Ex-skipper held the current Indian captain for a while.

When asked about what she spoke to Harmanpreet, Anjum said, "My intention was to give the captain some empathy because that's all I can offer from the outside. It was an emotional moment for both of us. India has reached the semi-finals a lot of times and they have lost.

"This is not the first time I've seen Harmanpreet bat like this. I have seen her battling her injuries and health Today she might not have even played but because this was a World Cup semi-final and because she was Harmanpreet Kaur. She is not the one who takes a backward step; she will go forward and a backward step, she will go forward and she did that.

"Today, before the match started, she was able to bring herself to a situation where she can play. She ran around in the field for 20 overs and then while batting, she rekindled India's hopes. Of course, Jemimah Rodrigues also played her part. I can understand what Harmanpreet Kaur must be going through. It was a player-to-player moment with her. I was just trying to lessen her sorrow," Anjum said in a video posted by ICC.
