New Zealand's veteran cricketer Kane Williamson is not just a great batter, but is also an outstanding fielder. Playing for the London Spirit in the ongoing The Hundred 2025, Williamson took a blinder to dismiss Manchester Originals' batter Mark Chapman on the 86th ball in the first innings.
Jafer Chohan bowled a short and wide of off stump delivery which the batter punched it towards the over the off-side ring but ended up near the cover region where Williamson dived towards his left to take the catch. He was completely parallel to the ground when he took the catch. With every match, Williamson just proves how good of a fielder he is even at the age of 35.
Chapman's presence didn't make any difference to the scoreboard as he was dismissed on just two runs. His wicket was important since the left-handed batter is pretty good with his cricketing skills.
Manchester Originals won the toss and captain Phil Salt decided to bat first. It wasn't a bad decision as the batters put up a good show with the bat. In 100 balls, they scored 163 runs in the first innings. The openers gave a good start to the innings, scoring 47 runs in 21 balls, thanks to Salt (31) and McKinney (29).
Moreover, Jos Buttler was the highest run-scorer with 46 off 37 balls, hitting three boundaries and two sixes. Heinrich Klaasen also scored 24 off 17, including three boundaries. For London Spirit, Olly Stone and Jamie Overton claimed two wickets each.
The second innings started off well for the London Spirit, but once the openers, David Warner (71) and Kane Williamson (19) were dismissed, the rest of the batting lineup fell like a pack of cards. The rest of the batters couldn't help the team chase the mammoth target. Hence, with this win, the Originals finally opened their account in the tournament by winning the match by 10 runs.
