WATCH: Mohammed Siraj gets warm welcome by fans on return to India at Mumbai airport

Mohammed Siraj’s contribution in the Test series against England has been immense. He claimed 23 wickets in five matches and was the leading wicket-taker of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Siraj didn't let the Indian fans miss Jasprit Bumrah, both in the 2nd and the 5th Test. He bowled beautifully, kept the line and length intact, and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. 

With this, Siraj has earned a lot of love, warmth, and respect from the Indian fans. In a video that went viral on social media, the pacer was seen returning from England at the Mumbai airport. On getting the news of Siraj's arrival, fans surrounded him and started clicking selfies and taking videos with him. Siraj seemed to enjoy all the attention while being on a call throughout. 

Siraj won the Player of the Match award in the final Test for his magnificent performance, especially on days four and five. When India needed just four wickets to win on the last day, it was Siraj who didn't miss the line and length of the ball throughout his spell. Overall, Siraj has bowled 185.3 overs, the highest by any bowler in the Test series. Interestingly, as per stats, none of the deliveries bowled by him were below 131 kmph. This speaks about the courage and the hard work Siraj put in during the series. 

Hence, the reception at the Mumbai airport was quite valid. The series was levelled, but the selectors now have a few players on whom they can depend in the upcoming matches as well. His bowling partners Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep were brilliant too. Captain Shubman Gill showed a lot of confidence in Krishna on the last day by giving him the ball to bowl from the other end.

The pacer didn’t let his captain down and produced a great spell. In the absence of Bumrah, the bowlers managed to put up a great match, which is a huge positive point for the selectors. It will be interesting to see how they shuffle the players in the upcoming matches as well. After the Asia Cup 2025, India’s home series starts with teams like West Indies, South Africa, New Zealand, and England coming to play red ball and white ball series.
