Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma once again showed why he’s admired both on and off the field, after a video of him stepping in to help a young fan during a practice session in Mumbai went viral. The incident occurred at Shivaji Park, where Rohit was training ahead of the upcoming ODI series against Australia. A young boy had tried to meet his idol, only to be stopped by a security guard, a moment that quickly drew the batter’s attention and led to a touching gesture that has since won over fans online.

Rohit Sharma’s protective gesture wins fans over

Witnesses at the venue shared that Rohit, who was winding up his batting drills, noticed the commotion when the child was pushed back by security personnel. Instead of ignoring it, the senior batter immediately turned around, gave an angry glare at the guard, and motioned for the fan to be allowed closer.

The calm yet firm reaction was classic Rohit, controlled, but full of emotion and empathy for his supporters. The video of the moment soon flooded social media, with fans praising Rohit’s humility and his willingness to stand up for a young admirer, even amid a high-pressure training environment.

Rohit’s words reportedly reflected his concern for the child’s safety. “Usko lagna nahi chahiye (he shouldn’t get hurt),” he was heard telling the guard, making sure the fan wasn’t handled roughly. His former teammate and close friend Abhishek Nayar, who was overseeing the session, was also seen helping manage the situation, ensuring the boy could safely meet his idol before being escorted back.

For fans, the gesture reaffirmed Rohit’s reputation as one of Indian cricket’s most grounded personalities. Despite his superstar status, the “Hitman” has always maintained a connection with his supporters, often pausing for autographs, photos, or small interactions that leave lasting memories.

This incident comes just days before India’s white-ball series against Australia, where Rohit and Virat Kohli are making their much-anticipated return to the ODI setup. While much of the spotlight is on his on-field leadership, this off-field moment highlighted the other side of Rohit Sharma, one defined by compassion and authenticity.
