Former India captain Rohit Sharma emerged victorious in a high-stakes batting contest against England legend Kevin Pietersen in the latter's show, 'The Switch', which helped Sharma win 250 cricket kits for kids.
The high-stakes contest was designed to test the accuracy of Rohit Sharma with his bat. The rules were simple, but the execution was near impossible.
Both Kevin Pietersen and Rohit Sharma had to hit certain targets around the ground to earn points. For the edges, there were 50 points. Meanwhile, for the centres, there were 75 points, and for the Bullseye container, there were 100 points.
Now the rule was simple: whoever reached 200 points first would win the battle and, as a result, win 250 kits delivered to kids across the globe.
Pietersen brought his trademark flair to the challenge, but Sharma fell behind at the start of the battle. Pietersen was close to the target of 250 points, with Rohit Sharma needing to hit the bullseye in the last two attempts. Although Sharma missed the first one by an inch or two, he hit the bullseye container to win 100 points in the final attempt and win the challenge eventually.
Although Rohit was delighted to win the battle, the result of his happiness was more than just winning a challenge. As a result of Rohit's win, 250 cricket kits were donated to grassroots cricketers through DP World's charitable initiative.
During this challenge, Rohit became visually nostalgic, sharing stories about his own beginning, where he revealed he received his first cricket kit at the age of 11. He even described how getting that kit ignited the spark within him to play for India someday.
