The Kerala Cricket League witnessed some breathtaking batting on display, and Sanju Samson was at the center of the action. The 11th match of the KCL 2025 featured the Thrissur Titans clash against the Kochi Blue Tigers at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on August 26.

Playing for Kochi Blue Tigers, Samson wreaked havoc during the 5th over of the first innings. During that over, Samson turned a single delivery into a 13-run spectacle. First, he smashed a no-ball from Sijomon Joseph over deep extra cover for six, and then, taking full advantage of the free hit, sent the very next ball soaring to deep mid-wicket for another six. It was a treat to watch for the Kerala fans, who turned up mainly just to see Samson.

Samson continued his dominance throughout the innings and played a magnificent knock of 89 runs off just 46 balls, which included four fours and nine sixes. The right-handed batter missed his well-deserved century by just 11 runs. Notably, in his last outing, Samson smashed a 42-ball hundred against Aries Kollam Sailors. So, it’s safe to say that he’s in red-hot form, and it couldn’t be better to be back in form just ahead of the Asia Cup 2025.

Back-to-back performances in KCL Puts Sanju Samson Back in Asia Cup XI Conversation

Samson has been included in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad, but there is no assurance of him getting a chance to get a place in the playing XI. Why do we say that? Well, the answer is Shubman Gill’s comeback in India’s T20I squad, and not just as a batter, he’s been brought into the squad as the vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in the shortest format.

Since Gill is back in the squad, it’s been speculated that he will be Abhishek Sharma’s opening partner. Abhishek has been very consistent as an opener for India, so his place is quite safe in the squad. However, Sanju Samson is a wicketkeeper-batter, so he might get a place while batting in the middle order. However, only time will tell as the decision will be taken by the team management eventually.
