Star batter Shubman Gill has given the fans a massive update by confirming he is “much better” and is ready to return to action for the India vs South Africa T20I series. The right-haned batter, who suffered a painful neck injury during the first Test, underwent a rigorous rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.
After weeks of controlled training and medical supervision, Gill has finally been cleared to rejoin the national squad. It was a frustrating break for the young opener, who has been one of India’s most consistent performers across formats.
However, Gill revealed that his rehab involved targeted strengthening, mobility recovery, and match-simulation routines designed to restore full movement and confidence. In his latest update, Gill said he feels “strong, stable, and mentally ready” to step back into competitive cricket. Medical staff at the CoE have issued a complete fitness certificate, confirming he has cleared every test required for an international comeback.
"I'm feeling much better. I think the day that I came here, from that day till today, I've had quite a bit of skill sessions and some training sessions. So, I feel much, much better," Gill told 'bcci.tv'.
India's vice-captain Shubman Gill has been an incredible batter when it comes to T20 cricket. We have seen him play those explosive shots and have also watched him anchor the innings in times of need. He spoke about the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and how they have helped many players throughout the years. Gill also spoke about the hype around NCA since they were growing up.
"Growing up playing under-14, under-16, you know, it used to be a thing among us where we used to be like someone has been to the NCA and come back," he said.
"When you're coming here, you know, you're kind of cream of the crop. So, you know, you have the skillset to be able to reach to the next level and making use of the facility where you know that how I can go to the next level physically or how I can go to the next level mentally," said Gill.
