In a heartfelt display of solidarity and patriotism, Punjab Kings (PBKS) co-owner and Bollywood actor Preity Zinta made a significant contribution to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) of the Indian Army's South Western Command. On Saturday, May 24, during a special event held in Jaipur, Zinta donated INR 1.10 crore from her share of PBKS’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.
This compassionate move came shortly after the launch of Operation Sindoor, a military response triggered by the devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22. Deeply moved by the tragedy, Zinta decided to channel her share of Punjab Kings’ CSR fund toward those who have lost everything.
“It’s both an honour and a responsibility to support the courageous families of our soldiers,” Zinta said, her words carrying the weight of sincerity. “While we can never fully repay the sacrifices made by our armed forces, we can stand beside their families and help them move forward.”
The donation wasn’t just a financial contribution; it was a lifeline for Veer Naris (war widows) and their children. The CSR initiative aims to fund education, provide opportunities, and ease the burden of grief with real, long-term support.
While this moment of generosity captured hearts, Zinta has also been soaking in the joy of a long-awaited turnaround for her IPL team. The Punjab Kings are finally back in the playoffs for the first time since 2014, and their last league game is just around the corner, scheduled for Monday, May 26, against the Mumbai Indians in Jaipur.
With eight wins, four losses, and a rain-hit draw, PBKS have surprised fans and critics alike. For Zinta, who’s often seen cheering passionately from the stands, it’s a season to remember. And yet, even amid the highs of a potential championship run, she’s kept her focus grounded on what truly matters.
If that wasn’t enough, Zinta is also making headlines with her upcoming return to the silver screen. She’ll be starring alongside Sunny Deol in Lahore 1947, a historical drama set during the partition of India, produced by Aamir Khan.
