India's former batter Sanjay Manjrekar made a huge revelation regarding Rishabh Pant while having a conversation on JioHotstar. Pant, who sustained a toe fracture in the ongoing fourth Test match against England, walked out to bat in the first innings. It was a courageous decision to bat with a broken toe, knowing that the consequences could be worse.
Despite the injury, Pant played a terrific knock, scoring a half-century in the first innings. He hit 54 runs off 75 balls, including three boundaries and two sixes. Manjrekar couldn't stop praising the 27-year-old batter for his heroic act.
Talking about his batting, the former player said that Pant was seen talking to head coach Gautam Gambhir on day two, with his jersey on. However, nobody had guessed that he would walk out to bat with that condition.
"When we saw Rishabh Pant with Gautam Gambhir having a chat, he was in his whites, we thought maybe he might come out to bat at the end of the innings. Who would've thought he'd walk in after the fall of the very next wicket? He is injured, but don't rule out this guy," said Manjrekar on JioHotstar.
Sanjay Manjrekar rightly pointed out that these heroic innings leave a mark on the hearts of cricket fans and will be remembered for '50 years from now.' We all remember the Gabba Test match, where Pant played an iconic innings. Similarly, this match will also be remembered for the courage he portrayed, inspiring millions of people watching him. Pant's passion for Test cricket is remarkable and he'll surely achieve many feats in the upcoming future.
"And when you do things like this, gestures like Anil Kumble bowling with his jaw strapped, those are moments in history you remember 50 years from now. It shows how keen he is to turn up for India. There's something about Test cricket, especially when it's being played in England. Look at the amount of attention you get as a cricketer here. This is where he wants to give his best. If you wonder why he hasn't made the same impact in white-ball cricket, maybe this is why. Because Pant wants to leave a mark on Test cricket more than any other format," added Manjrekar.
