On Monday, July 1, the third Grand Slam of the year, the prestigious grass court event, Wimbledon, kickstarts. The schedule of matches and on which court each will be played is yet to be released, but as of today, the Round 1 draw of who plays who has been announced. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, who is fresh of his French Open win in Roland Garros, is in the same half as World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, with the duo likely to get a semi-final repeat here.
Novak Djokovic, whose Wimbledon participation remained doubtful, given that he had surgery for a torn meniscus only 3 weeks ago, is in the singles draw second half, playing Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva in the first round. Novak was expected to not play Wimbledon like Rafael Nadal, who has been nursing injuries and focusing on playing only some tournaments.
Wimbledon’s official broadcast partner in India is Star Sports Network, with matches to be aired on Star Sports 2, Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select HD. The streaming partner for the tournament is Disney+ Hotstar. Round 1 matches will be played between July 1 and 2 across the 18 courts of Wimbledon.
