A week into the main draw of Wimbledon and the playing field is down from 128 to 16 only. On July 6, though, only 8 of them will be on court, with the highlight, quite obviously, the defending champion Carlos Alcaraz’s match, which will be the last on Centre Court today. Also vying for a spot in the quarter-final are Andrey Rublev, Taylor Fritz, Nicolas Jarry, Cameron Norrie, Karen Khachanov, Kamil Majchrzak and Jordan Thompson.

A day ago, Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, Ben Shelton Grigor Dimitrov, Lorenzo Sonego, Alex de Minaur, Flavio Cobolli and Marin Cilic also made it to the stage of 16 and will be back on July 7. But for Cilic and Sonego, everyone else cruised comfortably with straight set victories. Sonego’s victory over Brandon Nakashima was a hard-fought 5-setter, 4 of which went into tie-break.

Here’s the full schedule of Round of 16 matches in the men’s singles category on July 6

PLAYER 1 PLAYER 2 EXPECTED MATCH SCHEDULE
K Khachanov K Majchrzak 3.30 pm (Court 2)
T Fritz J Thompson 5.30 pm (Court 1)
N Jarry C Norrie 7.10 pm (Court 1)
A Rublev C Alcaraz 8.20 pm (Centre Court)

Head-to-head records

In the first men’s singles match of the day, Khachanov vs Majchrzak , the former has a 3-0 advantage over the latter, but the duo has not played each other since 2022’s Libema Open. Fritz and Thompson have played two matches against each other and are evenly poised with one win each. Thompson, though, won their more recent encounter at the Queen’s Club Championship in 2024.

Norrie and Jarry, meanwhile, have not been pitted against each other in more than 6 years, their last and only match so far coming at the 2018 Miami ATP Masters 1000. Jarry won this match. Alcaraz and Rublev, also have only 3 matches between them, all of which came between 2023 and 2024, with the defending Wimbledon champion leading 2:1. All of these matches were on indoor hard courts or clay, so it would be interesting to see how they fare against each other on grass.
