In the first 2 quarter-finals on July 8, World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and Amanda Anisimova, who’s back from a brief break, ensured semi-final spots on July 10. Sabalenka did not have it easy at all, as Laura Siegemund made her scamper all around court and literally got on the former’s nerves with her “annoying play”. Sabalenka had no answer to Siegemund’s sharp slices and drop shots, lost the first set and almost gave away the match in the third, but then brought the fight back into the game to seal the deal eventually.

Anisimova, on the other hand, had it a tad easier, although Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova seemed intent on forcing a decider third set. Anisimova closed out the match in the tie-breaker, securing her first semi-final berth, since the nearly year-long break she took for mental health and potential burnout reasons. Up next, in the two matches on July 9, there’s Iga Swiatek, Liudmila Samsonova, Mirra Andreeva and Belinda Bencic.

Women’s singles quarter-finals schedule on July 9

PLAYER 1 PLAYER 2 EXPECTED START TIME OF MATCH
I Swiatek L Samsonova 5.30 pm (Court 1)
M Andreeva B Bencic 6.00 pm (Centre Court)

Head-to-head records of quarter-finalists

Swiatek and Samsonova have played each other 4 times in the last couple of years, and all four went in favour of the Pole. Swiatek is the hot favourite to win this duel too. For Andreeva and Bencic, the quarter-final at Wimbledon 2025 is their first-ever encounter. Andreeva is predicted to move ahead to Thursday’s semis.

Swiatek has never made it past the quarter-final stage at Wimbledon, while Samsonova’s best at a Grand Slam was a fourth-round appearance earlier. Bencic, who was out of action on maternity leave all of 2024, holds a career best semi-final appearance at the US Open 2019. She is a first-time quarter-finalist at Wimbledon, as is her opponent Andreeva, who made it to this stage at Roland Garros this year.
