The Women's Premier League (WPL) is gearing up for its upcoming season, with an auction scheduled for December 9 in Mumbai. A total of 165 players, including 15 from associate nations and 104 Indian players, have registered for the WPL auction, as stated in a release by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday.
30 spots in total — nine for international players — will be up for grabs in the auction, which will be divided among five teams namely — Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals are the participating teams.
Women’s Premier League 2024 Auction teams purse:
With a purse of Rs. 5.95 crore, Gujarat Giants will lead the field going into the WPL 2024 player auction. Ten spots are up for grabs in the upcoming auction, so they can choose how to best participate.
There are still good amounts available for the Delhi Capitals (Rs. 2.25 crore), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs. 3.35 crore), and UP Warriorz (Rs. 4 crore). The teams that can receive three, seven, and five players are the UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Out of the five available spots in the Women's Premier League 2024 auction, the Mumbai Indians, the reigning champions, will begin with the lowest purse (2.1 crore).
