The Women’s Premier League (WPL) mega auction 2025, slated to take place on November 27 in Delhi, has finally started at 3.30 PM IST. The mega auction kicked off with the marquee list with star players like Deepti Sharma, Alyssa Healy, Renuka Singh, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine, Amelia Kerr, Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Laura Wolvaardt.
Amidst the auction, there is one star Australia batter, Healy, who went unsold in the marquee round. This was a surprising move since she is an incredible batter and has performed brilliantly in the previous seasons. She was the first player out of the pool in the marquee set and failed to fetch a bid at her base price of Rs 50 lakh.
Apart from her, the rest of the players in the marquee list were sold. Moreover, UP Warriorz exercised their Right to Match (RTM) card to bring back Deepti Sharma into the squad. When the bid started, Delhi Capitals (DC) bought the all-rounder at her base price of INR 50 lakh, but then UPW went ahead with the RTM card. Later, DC increased the amount to INR 3.2 crore, and UPW matched the amount, buying Deepti Sharma.
The WPL 2026 Auction saw intense bidding as franchises filled key gaps across squads. Star names like Deepti Sharma, Amelia Kerr, Meg Lanning and Sophie Devine secured big deals, while several emerging Indian talents also earned contracts. With surprising unsold entries, the auction reshaped team combinations for the upcoming season.
