The Zimbabwe Cricket Team is stranded in India after the middle east airspace has been closed due to the ongoing political situations around the globe. The players are safe in India and their board is in constant touch with the ICC and BCCI to ensure the safety of them. Due to the recent attacks in Dubai, the airspace has remained closed for the safety of the citizens.
Hence, the Zimbabwe players are present in India. After their early exit from the T20 World Cup 2026, they had their flight scheduled via Dubai. ICC has taken the responsibility of the logistics and helping the team reach Zimbabwe safely.
"Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirms that the Zimbabwe senior men’s team remains safe and well in India following the conclusion of their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign. The squad was scheduled to return home via Dubai, but travel plans have been affected by the evolving situation in the Middle East, which has disrupted key transit routes," Zimbabwe cricket stated.
"ZC remains in constant communication with the ICC and team management on the ground to ensure the squad’s safe and timely return," Zimbabwe Cricket stated.
Zimbabwe have been one of the best teams in the tournament this season. They remained unbeaten in group stage, beating Australia and Sri Lanka. However, they lost against India, West Indies, and South Africa in the Super 8 and had to depart from the tournament.
The team was full of young players including some of the experienced ones who made it possible to win against Australia. From failing to qualify in 2024 to beating Australia in 2026, they did work hard and made themselves proud. This will surely be an unforgettable campaign for them.
