Leave the World Behind

Based on Rumaan Alam's 2020 novel of the same name, Leave the World Behind is an American psychological thriller film written, directed and produced by Sam Esmail. The plot follows a family vacation on Long Island that finds itself interrupted by two strangers bearing news of a mysterious blackout. With the threat growing more imminent, both families must come to a decision on how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this crumbling world. The film features performances from Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha'la Herrold, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans, and Kevin Bacon.
