Even before he got noticed for his acting in his Bollywood debut Saat Uchakkey, which he followed with the commercially successful film Dangal, Aparshakti Khurana was in the creative field. The multi-talented artiste has worked as a radio jockey, TV show host, singer and songwriter.

In fact, this year, Aparshakti has expanded his horizons by appearing in three music videos and lending his voice to two songs — Balle Ni Balle and Choti Choti Gal. Apart from that he has also finished working on two films.

In conversation with OTTplay, the actor-singer shares why he likes to constantly explore various creative avenues, rather than only focusing on acting in Bollywood films.

Aparshakti said, "I think that as an artiste, the more I explore, the more I stay in control. You see, when my mind is busy doing multiple things — be it acting, singing, music composing, hosting shows, etc. — I am constantly in the creative process. So, even if one film does not do well, maybe one of my songs will be a hit. Something or the other is always working out for me, and that is why I never feel restless or anxious as a creative person. I think I feel more at peace when I am all over the place… in a good way (laughs)."

Starting his acting career in 2016, Aparshati has appeared in films like Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi, Stree, Street Dancer and Helmet.

Before entering the entertainment business as an actor, he was studying to become a lawyer. He was also the captain of the Under 20 Haryana cricket team.

"I have always been doing multiple things since I was a child. I cannot just keep calm and be happy with one activity. So, when I went to Delhi from Chandigarh and tried theatre there, I was also into sports, doing my higher education, working in radio... basically, doing multiple things simultaneously," he shared.

The actor agrees that when it comes to success, one needs not just talent, but opportunities as well. "Many of my friends are equally talented, but have not really got the opportunity to shine that I did. It also has a lot to do with timing. I can't call it pure luck, because you cannot discount hard work and skill when it comes to achieving success. But success is a combination of talent and opportunity," Aparshakti pointed out.

The actor has recently worked with filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane on Stardust, which also features Wamiqa Gabbi and Aditi Rao Hydari. Apart from that, he will be seen in the film Berlin, which is directed by Atul Sabharbal and also stars Ishwak Singh.
