The wait for Mammootty's next release after Bheeshma Parvam and CBI 5: The Brain will be over soon. The makers of director Nisam Basheer's Rorschach has announced the release date of the much-anticipated film, which also marks the second production under the megastar's own banner Mammootty Kampany and its first theatrical release.

Mammootty took to his social networking page to announce that the movie has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A rating and will hit theatres on October 7.

The movie, which is distributed by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films in Kerala and Truth Global Films abroad, marks the second directorial of Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha filmmaker Nisam. The director had earlier told OTTplay that Rorschach is a different kind of thriller than the recent films of the genre that the megastar has been part of. The film's trailer hinted at a psycho-thriller, which has Mammootty essaying the role of a mysterious stranger who claims to be an NRI.

Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Bindu Panicker, Jagadeesh and Kottayam Nazeer are also part of the film, which is written by Adventures of Omanakuttan and Iblis scriptwriter Samir Abdul.

The upcoming movie, meanwhile, could clash with Rosshan Andrrews' entertainer Saturday Night, which has Nivin Pauly, Siju Wilson, Saiju Kurup, Aju Varghese, Saniya Iyappan and Grace as part of the cast. Saturday Night was earlier set yo release on September 30 but was deferred at least by a week as its post-production work wasn't complete. The makers are yet to announce an official release date of the film, written by Naveen Bhaskar of Monsoon Mangos fame.

Saturday Night marks Rosshan’s second release this year, after Dulquer Salmaan’s investigative thriller Salute, which was scripted by Bobby-Sanjay duo and released directly on Sony LIV. The film’s music is composed by Jakes Bejoy.
