Well, just as hoped, S.S. Rajamouli's RRR has made solid impressions on the jury of the Oscars as the song Naatu Naatu gets nominated in the Best Original Song category. Following a 5-day-long voting process that included more than 9,500 jury members, the final list of nominations for the upcoming edition of The Academy Awards is out now and RRR, along with the documentaries All That Breathes and The Elephant Whisperers, has made Indians proud.

RRR's cult favourite track Naatu Naatu is among the five chosen songs to compete for the coveted Oscar for Best Original Song. Composer M.M. Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose have been credited by the Academy for conceiving the track.

Naatu Naatu, having won the Golden Globe recently, features in nominations along with Diane Warren's 'Applause' (from Tell It Like a Woman), Lady Gaga and Bloodpop's 'Hold My Hand' (Top Gun: Maverick), 'Life Me Up' (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler & Ludwig Goransson and 'This is a Life' from the very popular film Everything Everywhere All At Once by Ryan Lott, David Byrne and Mitski.

Not very long ago, team RRR made its first major stride by winning the Golden Globe for Best Original Song and as a result, increased its chances multifold of lifting an Oscar. The 95th edition of the Academy Awards is set to take place on March 12th, 2023, prior to which the final round of voting will get underway on the 2nd of March. The voting process will carry on until the 7th of March.

Alongside, Shaunak Sen's poignant documentary feature All That Breathes is among the five nominees for the Best Documentary Feature Film category with Kartiki Gonsalves' The Elephant Whisperers nominated in the Best Documentary SHORT Film category. S.S. Rajamouli, who was among the frontrunners to make it to the Best Director category, missed out and so did his RRR which wasn't nominated for Best Picture.
