The RRR director-composer duo met the legendary filmmaker at a bash thrown by Universal Studios in the US

Dreams do come true and RRR director SS Rajamouli and composer MM Keeravaani couldn’t have been more thrilled! The duo’s joy knew no bounds when they met their idol, legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg earlier at a bash thrown by Universal Studios earlier in the day. Commemorating the commencement of the Academy Awards voting, the gathering was organised at the Sunset Tower, California on Friday.

Sharing his excitement about meeting Steven Spielberg, SS Rajamouli wrote, “I just met GOD!!!” MM Keeravaani couldn’t thank his stars enough when the filmmaker said he liked Naatu Naatu. He shared, “Had the privilege of meeting the God of movies and say in his ears that I love his movies including DUEL like anything. And I couldn’t believe it when he said he liked Naatu Naatu.”

Fans of SS Rajamouli were unsurprisingly thrilled with the meeting and shared their excitement over a series of tweets. RRR’s song Naatu Naatu, which recently won the Golden Globe Awards in the Best Original Song category, is also shortlisted for the Oscars. India’s official nomination for the Academy Awards, Chello Show, was also shortlisted in the Best International Film category.

Several US publications, journalists are batting for RRR to bag an Oscar nomination directly in the Best Picture category. Steven Spielberg’s much-acclaimed coming-of-age drama The Fablemans, starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, too is a frontrunner at the Oscars.

RRR, a historical drama set in the 1920s, stars Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, Shriya Saran and others in lead roles. The film, now streaming on ZEE5, Disney+ Hotstar and Netflix, released in theatres on March 25, 2022 and grossed over Rs 1200 crore at the ticket window. Cinematographer K Senthil Kumar, editor Sreekar Prasad and production designer Sabu Cyril are part of the crew.
