The Boys will return this summer, according to Amazon Prime Video, which also released the first footage from Season three of the Emmy-nominated superhero series. According to Variety, the third season of The Boys will premiere on Friday, June 3 with the first three episodes. Season three episodes will be released weekly, as opposed to the all-at-once dump treatment that Season one received, as showrunner Eric Kripke and The Boys team did with Season two. Following the premiere, the remaining five episodes of Season three will be released on Fridays until the season finale on July 8.

Amazon claims that The Boys is a lighthearted and irreverent look at what happens when superheroes, who are as well-known as celebrities, as powerful as politicians, and as revered as gods, abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good.

The Boys a group of vigilantes, continue their heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and conceals their dirty secrets. It's seemingly powerless versus the all-powerful.

The premiere date was announced at the end of Friday's episode of Amazon Prime Video's web series Seven on 7. With Cameron Coleman, The Boys tie-in has been providing fans with glimpses into the show's world via Vought News Network (VNN) while they wait for Season 3.

This episode concluded with the first footage from the upcoming season, which showed Supes of the Seven members Homelander (Antony Starr) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) posing for Vought exec Ashley (Colby Minifie) and the press, as the camera pans in on Homelander while his smile becomes increasingly crazed before the premiere date flashed on the screen.

Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Jensen Ackles star in Season three of The Boys.

The raunchy Prime Video superhero drama is executive produced by Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Craig Rosenberg, Jason Netter, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Meredith Glynn, and Michaela Starr, and is based on the best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

According to Variety, Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios are producing The Boys along with Kripke Enterprises, Original Film, and Point Grey Pictures.
