While many were expecting an India vs Pakistan clash in the Final of the Women's Asia Cup 2022, it won't be happening as the Women in Blue will be facing Sri Lanka for the trophy game.

The Women in Green were in control of the game but failed to hold their nerve as Sri Lanka defeated them by just 1 run with a run-out in the last ball of the second semi-final.

Pakistan needed 9 runs from the last over which was reduced to three from the last ball. Nida Dar was run-out while attempting to take a double as Pakistan managed to score 121 runs for six in their 20 overs.

The Indian women, on the way to the final, had lost only one game - against Pakistan - and the final against the Bismah Maroof-led side would have been an exciting contest.

As for the Indian side, they have been the most successful team in the Women's Asia Cup with six titles.

After their loss to Bangladesh in the 2018 edition, Harmanpreet Kaur-led India would be keen to clinch the trophy this time.

In the semi-final game against underdogs Thailand, the Indian side batted well and came on to defend their 148-run total and take away a massive 74-run win.

The last time India played against Pakistan in the final was in 2016 while Sri Lanka has made it to the summit clash four out of seven times.

The final between India and Sri Lanka will be on Saturday, October 15 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
