List hai toh hit hai

With 2023 fast approaching, major studios have announced major projects for the upcoming year. So for today’s List hai toh hit hai podcast we take a look at some most-anticipated TV shows of 2023.

Gen V

The Amazon Prime series The Boys has firmly established itself as one of the best TV shows in recent years. The black comedy that satirizes the idea of a superhero is praised for its writing and features plenty of gore and violence, which are not recommended for the squeamish. When Amazon Studios announced a spin-off to the critically acclaimed series it was a welcome surprise for its fans. Titled Gen V, the spin-off revolves around the younger generation of superpowered beings who are confined to an institution in order to control and hone their unique abilities. But as one would expect from The Boys spin-off, the institute is chaotic with death and destruction everywhere.

1883: The Bass Reeves Story

The upcoming TV series 1883: The Bass Reeves Story is a spin-off to another spin-off. Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the universally acclaimed TV series Yellowstone, helmed its spin-off titled 1883 last year. The new spin-off to 1883 will focus on America’s first black U.S. Marshal, Bass Reeves. The series will be set in the Wild West with plenty of drama and gunslinging action.

The Three-Body Problem

No other TV series has immersed audiences across the globe like Game of Thrones. But the final season left fans divided and slightly blemished the reputations of its showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss. The duo are on the path to restoring their halo with the upcoming sci-fi series The Three-Body Problem. Based on the Chinese novel by Liu Cixin, the series will explore space, time, and alien civilisations and is set to premiere on Netflix.

Secret Invasion

Marvel Studios’ most ambitious television project is the upcoming Disney+ original series Secret Invasion. The superhero show features a star-studded ensemble with Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, and Don Cheadle reprising their roles from the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. They will be joined by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, and Olivia Colman. The plot will revolve around Nick Fury’s mission to stop the secret invasion of alien beings called the Skrulls.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Nickelodeon Animation Studio’s 2005 anime-inspired animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender is widely regarded as one of the greatest animated shows ever created. The plot revolves around individuals who can bend the elements such as water, earth, fire, or air. Despite concerns about the series considering Netflix’s failed live-action adaptations of Death Note and Cowboy Bebop fans are cautiously optimistic.

The Last of Us

The last one on the list is the HBO Original series, The Last of Us, possibly the most anticipated TV show of 2023. Based on PlayStation Studios and Naughty Dog’s award-winning video games, the story follows a man named Joel and a young girl named Ellie who must travel across a post-apocalyptic and zombie-infested America. They must also overcome hostile human colonies and factions over the course of their journey. The Mandalorian and Narcos star Pedro Pascal plays the role of Joel while his fellow Game of Thrones alum Bella Ramsey essays the role of Ellie. The series is helmed by Chernobyl showrunner Craig Mazin and the director of both Last of Us games Neil Druckmann. The series is set to premiere on January 15, 2023, on HBO Max and is expected to release on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
