If one looks at intense dramas where the hero chases the villain, it is the villain that shapes the hero for the audience and not the other way around. Batman is one superhero who has made a name with his time in the dark, and the night has added a deeper layer to his existence. But he has always been a superhero who has been defined by the villains around him, and he has plenty. Most of the time, the villains have always been the ones who have brought Batman out and given him the time to shine. The Batman 2 is now in the making, and it makes us wonder who the next big bad will be.

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, was one where the villain left Bruce with no option but to look within. Matt Reeves’s poetic drama was about looking at the darkness within the superhero, and the movie turned out to be a brilliant piece of art. So now as the filmmaker, with his muse, moves towards the sequel, his choice of villain is, of course, something that makes us all curious. There are no details about this yet, and we are already imagining what several villains will look like.

So as Matt Reeves continues to shape The Batman Part II and not tell us anything, we thought of listing down 5 candidates to be the villain of The Batman.

Two-Face

Friends becoming the villains of our stories is the biggest pain for anyone, and Two-Face was once Harvey Dent, a friend to Bruce Wayne and one who could be up for him at any time. So when he turns into Two-Face and Robert Pattinson’s Batman has to fight him, it will be two friends at battle, and there is nothing more complex to witness on the big screen.

Anarky

The battle between ideologies always makes for good superhero stories. The villain and the hero, serve as two sides of the same coin, the complexities go tenfold higher. Anarky technically is everything Batman but also destructive. His idea of bringing justice is killing everything that is unjust. Batman, on the other side, wants to bring a balance. Imagine what if they battle it out. The aim is the same, but the method isn’t.

Clayface

Clayface can be the most visually interesting villain if he makes his way into The Batman Part II. He is a shape-shifter, which means there will be a whole lot to explore. He can enter Bruce Wayne’s life in ways one cannot even imagine, and this can even lead to the day when the world gets to know who Batman is, and that will not be an easy day. So if Clayface enters the timeline, things can get spicier not just for the sequel but for the parts to come after that.

Ra’s al Ghul

Talking of Batman’s identity getting revealed, one man who knows who Bruce Wayne is is Ra’s al Ghul. He is the man who trained Bruce Wayne initially and knows the secret. This means if he turns evil and decides to go against his prodigy, there will be sparks and intense ones. Batman will have to end his mentor or put him in prison, which will be difficult either way.

Catwoman

We know you weren't expecting this at all. Catwoman and Batman’s last frame in The Batman is something that has stayed with all of us. But just imagine what if she finds a motive to go against Batman and ends up plotting a plan to deceive him in love. Two lovers fighting each other, clearly knowing one will lose, and the relationship will end is the drama all of us deserve.
