5 years of Laila Majnu: Avinash Tiwary hopes the film 'keeps adding more audiences and many more years to it' | Exclusive

Sajid Ali's theatrical film Laila Majnu is one that has finally received its due credit on OTT. The film featured Avinash Tiwary and Triptii Dimri in the titular roles and has been a fan favourite over the past five years. The film is touted to be criminally underrated, and there goes hardly a day by the netizens without mentioning Laila Majnu. The film is currently streaming on ZEE5 and celebrated five years since its release on September 7.

Avinash Tiwary reflects on the film's journey

On the occasion of the same, OTTplay asked Avinash about the film finally getting its due on OTT. To which the talented actor exclusively told us, "Yeah, it's been very nice. Honestly, when the film came in, it disappeared in three days, and it's grown. I remember Imtiaz Sir saying this to me: A film is for life, and if it's any good, it will keep finding its audience. If it's good content, if it's placed well, if it's mounted well, and if the audience comes to know about it, if it's good enough, it will last and will keep making its audience."

He added, "So that's how we, as creators, actors, and talents, think about it. For me, as far as Laila Majnu is concerned, I hope it keeps adding more audiences and many more years to it."

Triptii Dimri's perspective on the film's ongoing popularity

Back in 2022, during Qala, when Triptii was quizzed about the love Laila Majnu has been receiving over the years, she said, "The best thing about Laila Majnu is that it's been four years since the release of the film. I am not making it up; every single day in these four years, I have received messages from people for Laila Majnu."
