Soon after the music director announcement of the upcoming Tamil film D55, the makers announced the female lead for the Dhanush-starrer. Actor Sreeleela will be joining the cast, marking her second straight Tamil film after the recently released Parasakthi.
D55: Who is playing the female lead?
Actor Sreeleela, who was recently seen in the Tamil film Parasakthi, will be playing the female lead in the upcoming film tentatively called D55. Dhanush and Sreeleela will be making their first onscreen collaboration with the upcoming project. The makers confirmed it on Saturday through a social media announcement, amid speculations that Sai Pallavi is part of D55. Notably, this is Sreeleela’s second Tamil film after Parasakthi in which she starred opposite Sivakarthikeyan.
D55 is written and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy who has not worked with Sreeleela before. The director’s last release was Amaran in 2024, starring Sivakarthikeyan. The biopic drama was based on the life of late Mukund Varadharajan who served the Indian Army force.
D55: Who is going to score music?
Meanwhile, it was only recently did the makers of D55 affirmed the music composer of the project. Young musician Sai Abhyankkar, who has already got some biggies lined up like Karuppu, and Atlee-Allu Arjun project, will be composing music for D55. It will mark his first time scoring for a Dhanush film.
What else do we know about D55?
D55 is also expected to feature another star actor. Malayalam superstar Mammootty is speculated to play a crucial role in D55. Earlier Mammootty and Dhanush had shared screen space in Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath, in which the latter made a cameo appearance. Mammootty will be joining D55 after finishing Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s Padayathra. Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of D55.
Where to watch Sreeleela’s Parasakthi?
Parasakthi will soon be making its OTT debut. The period political drama will premiere on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium on February 7. Directed by Sudha Kongara, Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa and others are also part of the film.
