Drink in Peace: This soothing end credit video song from Vikram's Mahaan is a single-shot attempt

Karthik Subbaraj's Vikram-starrer Mahaan skipped theatrical release and had a direct-to-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video on February 10. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics, though the performances from its lead cast, including Vikram, Simha, Dhruv, Muthukumar, Simran and Sananth among others, were appreciated.

The movie brought together Vikram and his son Dhruv for the first time; interestingly, they played father-son duo in the movie, but as people with different ideologies. The project's story revolves around a son who becomes a tough cop to take revenge against those who made his father the king of a liquor empire.    

Santhosh Narayanan has composed music for Mahaan. Though Anirudh was supposed to be the film's music director, the former was roped in by the team as the latter had other commitments. The makers have now released another song from the movie.

Titled Drink in Peace, the song which has English lyrics written by Vivek and Muthamil, features Vikram and Simha seen drinking alcohol peacefully. They play Gandhi Mahaan and Sathyavan respectively in the movie who rule the liquor business in Tamil Nadu. The song was not shot for the project initially.

Karthik, who took to Twitter to share the video song, revealed that the idea to shoot an end credit song struck him only a few days before the movie's release. He said that this song which was composed at the last minute is now the team's favourite track from the film.

Interestingly, the two-minute video has been picturized in a single-shot. He tweeted, "Idea for an end credit song came just days before Release, But it's now #Mahaan Team's favourite. Another 'Thideer' song by @Music_Santhosh. To all my friends, Let's #DrinkinPeace (sic)."
