Mithun Chakraborty and Mamata Shankar will be back together after 46 years after Mrinal Sen’s Mrigayaa for Avijit Sen’s Projapoti. Producer-co writer Atanu Raychaudhuri expressed joy after the duo agreed to work together on the film. Dev, who has been working in a number of Atanu’s films, will be seen as Mithun’s son. In a chat with OTTplay, Atanu opened up about the casting and his creative exploration through writings.

“I think this film has the biggest casting in recent times. Mithun and Mamata Shankar are veteran actors and are very selective about their work. It is a proud moment for me to be able to convince both of them to work together on my film. I am also honoured that they agreed,” Atanu said.

Atanu, who is well-known in the industry for producing free-flowing family drama, has also started taking an active part in developing the story and the script. “I have always come up with ideas. Sanjhbati (directed by Leena Gangopadhyay and Saibal Banerjee with Dev and Paoli in lead) was my idea. However, from Tonic, I started to write with Avijit (Sen, director). I always feel if a film falters in creativity, it will never make money. For me, crafting a film well is a priority,” he said.

Talking about the Projapoti, Atanu said, “It is a family drama that revolves around a father and his son. Like all my films, this is also a simple narration. Avijit and I have penned it together and We hope it will work well among our audience.”

Projapoti will go on the floors from July 5 and is scheduled to be released this winter.
