Abhijit Chowdhury’s Johny Bonny is essentially a story of a rookie cop and a wannabe grandmaster. The show that is produced by MilkyWay Films features Debashish Mondal and Swastika Dutta in lead and will soon be dropped by Klikk. The film also features Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Pushpita Mukherjee, Suvosmita Mukherjee, Anirban Bhattacharya, and others.
Swastika seemed to be very happy with the project. While talking exclusively to OTTplay, she said, “It was a brilliant team. This was my first work with Debashish and I found him very professional. Our director Abhijit is also very nice to work with. I would love to work with him again,” the actress said.
Talking about her character Ankhi, Swastika said, “She is sober. She works as a small-time model and takes care of her husband Johny’s emotional health. She helps him to stay grounded. It is a comedy thriller and my character also gets involved with the mystery in certain ways.
While Debashish rose to fame after working in the titular role of Anirban’s Mandaar, Swastika has been a popular actress on TV. She has just completed her debut film, Fatafati, which also features Ritabhari Chakraborty and Abir Chatterjee. Earlier, Swastika worked in Hoichoi’s Uttoron which features Madhumita Sorcar in lead. Besides, she has also worked in another webseries Ananda Ashram. Directed by Arijit Chakraborty, the series features late actor Soumitra Chatterjee. However, the release of the series is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Swastika is willing to get back to television. Mega serials play an integral part in the fame that I enjoy today. I took a break after Zee Bangla’s Ki Kore Bolbo Tomay with Krushal Ahuja. I have worked on one feature film and three OTT projects. I want to go back to serials. That’s where I began my journey,” she said. According to sources, the actress is in talks with Zee Bangla and Star Jalsha officials. She will soon take up one of the channel’s projects.
